WaterShed embroidery threads are made of solution-dyed trilobal polyester filaments.
While the conventional piece-dying process begins after the polyester fibers have already been spun together, the solution-dyed process takes place at the manufacturing stage of the fibers themselves. There is no traditional dyeing process, which significantly reduces pollution and water use.
It is generally accepted that to dye 1KG worth of thread, as much as 12 liters of water is used. The process requires an important consumption of energy which in turn generate 2.2KG of CO2.
Solution-dyed threads are energy-saving and environmentally friendly:
- Reduction in water consumption by 80%
- Fewer chemicals and CO2 emissions
- Lower energy consumption
and offer many advantages over piece-dyed threads.
- Excellent color fastness.
- High color uniformity and reproducibility. Very little lot-to-lot variation.
- High resistance to UV. Great fade-resistance.
